REM Course
Rescripting Education and Management of Trauma-Related Nightmares
People who experience a traumatic event often develop nightmares that can persist for months or even years. This 3 class course helps people to rapidly and reliably learn to sleep better and reduce the frequency of their nightmares. The course draws from the latest sleep research and uses an established, research-based educational intervention that has been shown to be effective in research trials for trauma-related nightmares. In this course, participants will learn relaxation techniques and ways to change the narrative of their dreams into something less frightening. Participants will also learn how to add helpful elements to their dreams so that they don’t feel so helpless and terrified.
The Oregonian wrote a story about this kind of work being done with local veterans who have war-related trauma. Our classes can be used with trauma related to war, domestic violence, childhood abuse, or accidents.
