APA Approved Continuing Education Sponsor

Portland Psychotherapy is approved by the

American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Portland Psychotherapy maintains responsibility for all programs and content.

What does this mean?

Continuing Education Sponsor Approval (CESA) was created by the APA to facilitate psychologists’ access to CE programs and to ensure that the highest level of quality is maintained in program planning, management and delivery. Portland Psychotherapy developed a procedure for delivering high quality continuing education that has been reviewed and approved by the APA.

Can non-psychologist participants receive CE credit?

All participants attending the full length of a program (shown by signing in and out at registration and completing a program evaluation form) may request a certificate of attendance. However, it is recommended that participants check with their respective state board to ensure that credits obtained will be accepted.

For LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCs from Oregon, we have been told by previous attendees from Oregon that the board for LPCs and LMFTs accepts a certificate from an APA approved sponsor for CE credit (see: http://www.oregon.gov/OBLPCT/pages/ce_req.aspx) and that the board for LCSWs also accepts our certificate (http://www.oregon.gov/blsw/pages/continuinged.aspx#Accepted_CE_Bodies). We urge you to double check with your colleagues and licensure board.
